Fair Use Policy

droplana.com is designed as a client communication and file-sharing workspace for service businesses. To keep the service fast, reliable, and affordable for everyone, all plans — including Pro — are subject to the following rules.

Illegal and prohibited content

This section is separate from fair use. These are hard limits with no warning process.

You must not use Droplana to store, share, or transmit:

  • Sexual content of any kind — including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Discovery results in immediate account termination and mandatory reporting to relevant authorities.
  • Content that promotes discrimination, racism, or hate — material that dehumanises or incites hatred against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
  • Content that incites or glorifies violence — including terrorism, violent extremism, or threats against individuals or groups.
  • Malware, exploits, ransomware, spyware, or stalkerware — software or code designed to damage systems, gain unauthorised access, or surveil people without their knowledge and consent.
  • Content that facilitates fraud, phishing, or identity theft — fake login pages, deceptive documents, or materials designed to obtain credentials or personal data under false pretenses.
  • Content that violates third-party intellectual property rights — copyright-infringing material distributed without authorisation.
  • Personal data of third parties without a lawful basis — you are the data controller; you are responsible for having a legal ground to process and share any personal data uploaded to the Service.

If you become aware of any such content on the Service, report it immediately to abuse@droplana.com. We take all reports seriously and act on them without delay.

These violations bypass the fair-use enforcement ladder below. Accounts involved in the above are terminated immediately, and no refund is issued.

Fair use of storage and bandwidth

The following covers commercial or technical misuse — not illegal content.

Intended use

Storage and bandwidth are provided to support normal client-work activity: sharing project files, deliverables, contracts, references, and ongoing communication with your clients.

Not permitted

You agree not to use Droplana for:

  • File distribution or CDN-style use — repeatedly distributing the same file(s) to large audiences, embedding files on public websites, or using your portal as a download server.
  • Backup or archival storage — using the service as a primary or secondary backup of personal, business, or system data unrelated to active client work.
  • Media hosting — hosting video, audio, or image libraries for streaming, public consumption, or third-party services.
  • Resale or sublicensing — reselling storage, bandwidth, or portal access to third parties, or operating Droplana as part of a service you charge others to use, except in the normal course of providing professional services to your own clients.
  • Excessive automated activity — scripted uploads, downloads, or API usage that materially exceeds typical human use.

What "unlimited" means

Unlimited clients and unlimited messages are subject to this Fair Use Policy. They are not a license for unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, or non-portal use cases.

Soft thresholds

As a guideline, accounts using more than 3× the average storage or bandwidth of their plan tier may be flagged for review. We don't publish hard numbers because legitimate use varies, and we'd rather talk to you than auto-throttle.

How we enforce

If we believe an account is operating outside fair use, we will:

  1. Contact you first to understand your usage and discuss options (including upgrading to a higher tier or a custom plan).
  2. If usage continues outside fair use, we may throttle uploads/downloads, temporarily restrict file access, or, in clear cases of abuse, suspend the account.
  3. For repeated or wilful violations, we may terminate the account without refund.

Good-faith principle

We won't penalize you for occasional spikes, large legitimate deliverables, or onboarding a new client. This policy exists to protect the service from abuse, not to nickel-and-dime real users. If you're unsure whether your use case fits, email us at support@droplana.com — we'd rather answer a question than send a warning.
