Client portal use cases, by profession
Every service business sends documents to clients and waits for others to come back. The details differ by trade, so each page below shows the exchange with that profession's own documents.
Droplana is a client document portal: each client gets one private portal where you send documents, the client uploads files back, including phone photos of paper, and comments stay with the file they are about. The client portal use cases below show that same exchange in the terms of one profession each: the documents it asks for, a worked example and the questions people in that trade ask before they start.
How to choose a profession page
Start with your own trade. If it is listed, that page is written for you, and its examples will look familiar.
If your trade is not listed, choose the closest one by how documents move in your work, not by job title:
- You mostly collect documents from clients. Receipts, IDs, payslips or signed forms come in, and the accounting, legal, mortgage broker and financial advisor pages are built around requests and follow-ups.
- You mostly deliver work and ask for feedback. The agency, consultant, design, photography and developer pages cover sending drafts, comments on a file and the final handover.
- Your work runs through a project or a sale in several stages. The architect, contractor and real estate pages show a longer exchange of drawings, photos, estimates or buyer packs.
- You work alone with a small number of clients. The freelancer and coaching pages are written for a short client list and a simple setup.
If you are still deciding whether you need a client portal at all, the client portal software guide explains the category and what to check before you choose one.
What stays the same on every page
The profession pages differ in their examples, not in the product. Each one describes the same portal, the same plans and the same limits: Free for up to 3 clients, and paid plans with unlimited clients from 19 EUR a month plus tax. Files are stored in Germany, and a Data Processing Agreement is available on every plan.
The same is true of what sits behind the portal. If you want to connect an AI assistant or an automation tool, the MCP server and outgoing webhooks are on every plan, and the integrations page explains what they can reach.
If you already use another tool for client files, the comparisons show where it differs from Droplana and when it is the better choice.
